thanks-a-million. #21.

On the road again.

I don’t know how many of you have walked with someone down the road to recovery before, but it’s a long strange road. With unimaginable peaks, and devastating valleys, and lots of uncertainty. And I learned the hard way about a year and a half ago, that sometimes you find yourself walking alone because the recovering one has sidestepped and gotten lost. And you can’t save them. That’s the hardest part – you cannot save them.

About a week ago, I got the call. The call you pray you’ll get. The one that essentially says, “I’m on the road again.” And your heart dances for joy and weeps all at once.

I’m  thankful I got to buy my friend a cup of coffee. That we got to sit face to face as I heard about where they were, and where they are planning on going. I’m thankful to walk with someone on the road again.

“And what was said to the rose to make it unfold / was said to  me here in my chest /so be quiet now / and rest.”{David Crowder Band}
